Gdal unable to open datasource with the following drivers

I have a problem with ogr2ogr and osm file. I install from source (on Ubuntu LTS) newest GDAL libary and OGR still can't read osm files. gdal-config --version ogr2ogr --version GDA.  · I use Version GDAL , released /05/ To read a SQLITE file works fine: When I try to read a OSM File it fails to open the datasource: $ ogrinfo www.doorway.ru FAILURE: Unable to open datasource `www.doorway.ru' with the following drivers. - ESRI Shapefile - MapInfo File The OSM file itself is not broken (I opened it in QGIS).  · Unable to open datasource '[this is the name of the file here'] with the following drivers. It then just lists a whole bunch of drivers. I can't for the life of me figure out what to do, all the other answers to similar questions recommend upgrading GDAL but mine is the most current version.
